1909 was a great year. Louis Bleriot became the first man to fly across the English Channel. Sir Ernest Shackleton discovered the magnetic South Pole. And a young, enterprising chap named Robert Old opened an elegant tailor’s studio in Bournemouth, Dorset.

The very first year of opening, Mr Robert Old triumphantly received first place at the prestigious National Tailor & Cutter competition. His unique talent and sartorial flair ensured that business boomed and customers arrived from far and wide. This humble tailor’s studio soon became the fine menswear establishment that you can see today.

The store grew and grew. In 1997, we created an elegant top floor to focus on fine men’s tailoring and our made-to-measure services for suits, jackets, shirts and trousers. The lower ground floor was created for our younger customers who appreciate brands such as Gant, Timberland and Polo Ralph Lauren.

Our store now proudly boasts three floors of the highest quality menswear, from elegant suits to refined footwear and everything in between. Every person who walks through our doors marvels at the selection of garments on offer and the doubtless quality of each and every one.

Cashmere has always been a passion for everyone at Robert Old and we are proud to hold one of the largest collections of styles and colours to be found anywhere in the world. Robert Old’s cashmere selection, created in the heart of Scotland, includes timeless and contemporary classics, with cardigans, roll necks, vees, crews, polo shirts, and scarves.

In December 2006, we made the decision to expand the Robert Old business online with some carefully chosen garments to a wider international audience. Our website provided a host of expertly crafted garments from the Robert Old own label, and other international brands including Eton and Crockett & Jones.

The website was gratefully received by stylish gentlemen around the world. After listening carefully to their comments, we redesigned the site to make it even easier to use and to provide a greater range of garments and accessories for our customers.

Both in-store and online, we take pleasure in offering a unique and personal service. And we still provide a world-class tailoring service for made-to-measure suits from Ermenegildo Zegna, as well as in our own label suits. After all, Robert Old would expect nothing less.
