In June 1917, Private Jack White was awarded the Victoria’s Cross, the highest award bestowed upon British and Commonwealth forces, for not only saving his commanding officer’s life, but saving valuable communications equipment under heavy fire. After the Great War was over, Private Jack White went into an apprenticeship as a trainee pattern cutter in a local factory. Rising quickly through the employment ladder, he soon became a General Manger, and then later, Owner.
Private Jack White laid the specialist foundations for the luxury company today. Bring with him his Yorkshire roots, Private Jack White led the company to exceed in Woolen garments, unlike the rival firms still using Lancashire cotton.
Still a family run company today, the White family are immensely pound of their Grandfathers legacy and champion the virtues of the region’s garment making industry.
